After a hiatus of a few weeks, Destiny 2’s PvP game Trials of Osiris returns in a big way this weekend. With Lightfall introducing the new Strand subclass, build crafting changes, and new Exotics to the mix, it will be interesting to see how 3v3 matches evolve now that players have new ones to use. You can also research where Xur is to see what gear your gun dealer has to offer before you try to be flawless. Here’s a look at where you’ll be playing Trials of Osiris this weekend and what weapons you can earn.

This Trials season, Bungie decided to remove the Freelance node and enable Fireteam matchmaking. This means that even if you don’t have any friends to join you for some highly competitive PvP weekend fun, you’ll still be matched with other players while trying to earn some of the best gear in the game.
The loot pool in Season 20 includes The Immortal, an all-new legendary 750-rpm Strand submachine gun that Bungie says can roll with perks like the Rangefinder and Killing Wind. Players can also pick up the Astral Horizon, an assault rifle for your kinetic slot, and one that has the chance to roll with the Slideshot, Surplus, Opening Shot, Shot Swap, and Elemental Capacitor perks.
Carry Alacrity Origin Trait weapons, which give you increased aim assist, reload, stability, and range on these weapons when you’re the last surviving member of a fireteam or working alone. You can also choose to switch to the Crucible Origin theme, One Quiet Moment, which greatly boosts your gun’s reload speed when reloading while out of combat.
The Trials reward system has also been changed in this system and works in the same way as other tower vendors. Engrams you earn will remain with your Saint-14 until you visit him and decrypt them, and there’s now an option to focus weapons and armor sets that are no longer in rotation for a certain number of engrams and resources. If you have any engrams experiences from previous seasons, you will need to visit Master Rahool to decode them.
Experiments run right from the daily reset on Friday at 10am PT / 1pm ET until the weekly reset at the same time the following Tuesday. Be sure to pay a visit to Saint-14 in the tower to get the Trials card, which will charge certain bonuses (such as if you gain extra bonuses in certain stages or if a loss is overlooked). Your ultimate goal in Trials of Osiris is for you and the other players in your fireteam to achieve a “flawless” run, in which you win seven matches without losing any.
Go flawlessly and you’ll earn a trip to the Lighthouse and get some special rewards, including skilled weapons. These have additional stat bonuses, making them among the most desirable items you can get. Your Trials Passage – the card you buy from Saint-14 that grants you access to the mode and keeps track of your wins – it works no Track your losses, so you can keep playing and earning rewards even if you lose in a flawless race.
Bungie also tweaked Trials last year so rewards could be earned based on the number of rounds won rather than matches, and added a reputation system similar to Crucible and Gambit, making it easier to earn some unique loot for Trials of Osiris.
